    Independent Contractor

    An independent contractor is a person contracted to perform work for—or provide services to—another entity as a non-employee. As a result, independent contractors must pay their own superannuation and taxes, and insurances such as PL & PI.

    Independent Contractor:

    • Highly skilled in their field of expertise
    • Works for themselves
    • Agree to the hours required to complete the job
    • Usually engaged for a specific task or time
    • Use their own tools and equipment
    • Pay their own tax and GST
    • Have set up either a Business or trust
    • Submits invoices
    • Don’t receive paid leave

    Contracting

    A consult or contractor is a person contracted to perform work for—or provide services to—another entity as a nonemployee. Depending on the contract negotiated, this arrangement may or may not pay their own superannuation and taxes, and insurances such as PL & PI.

     

    Consultant / Contracting:

    • Highly skilled in their field of expertise
    • Works for themselves
    • May negotiate the hours required to complete the job
    • Usually engaged for a specific task or time
    • Use their own tools and equipment
    • Pay their own tax and GST
    • Have set up an ABN
    • May submit invoices
    • Don’t receive paid leave

    • Employed casual or fixed term through Onsider and hosted to another entity as a nonemployee
    • Works set hours
    • Usually engaged for a specific task or time
    • Use the company tools and equipment
    • Onsider pay Superannuation
    • Covered by Onsider insurances
